Christopher P. DePhillips grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey, and has been a resident of Wyckoff for the past 15 years. He has been married to Patricia Reynolds-DePhillips for 21 years, and they are the parents of 4 children. They are parishioners of St. Elizabeth Church in Wyckoff.
Chris is an Attorney and has practiced law for the past 24 years. He is a 1987 graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. From 1987 to 1989, he served as a Legislative Assistant and Assistant Press Secretary to Republican U.S. Rep. Marge Roukema in Washington, D.C.
He graduated from the Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, N.J. in 1992. He is a Member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, an invitation-only legal defense organization.
Chris was elected to the Wyckoff Township Committee in November 2009 and served until January 1, 2013. He served as Deputy Mayor of the Township in 2011, and Mayor of the Township in 2012. He has been a Commissioner of the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority since April 2012. He served as a member of the Wyckoff Environmental Commission from January 1, 2013 through January 1, 2017.
He has been a member of the Wyckoff Republican County Committee since 2013. He was elected Chairman of the 40th Legislative District Republican Committee in 2014.
Chris is a former Member of the Board of Community Blood Services (2005-2010), the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (2005-2009), and the Wyckoff Education Foundation (2007-2010).
Chris has been a loyal, life-long Republican. His parents were members of the County Committee in Bergen County for many years. Chris volunteered for the campaigns of Ronald Reagan in 1984 and George H.W. Bush in 1988. He also worked on the 1988 congressional campaign of U.S. Rep. Marge Roukema. Chris attended the Republican National Convention as an Honorary Delegate in 2012 in Tampa and in 2016 in Cleveland.
Chris has actively supported and attended the events of the Bergen County Republican Organization (BCRO) since 2009. He has actively supported numerous freeholder and legislative campaigns supported by BCRO for many years. Since announcing as an Assembly candidate in April 2016, Chris and his running mates have attended and financially supported numerous events sponsored by the Passaic, Bergen, Essex, and Morris county parties, and numerous municipal party events throughout District 40.
